Mr. Heisman Mark Ingram returned to the Alabama Crimson Tide this past Saturday. He definitely made a statement: 9 carries, 151 yards and 2 touchdowns. So much for some pundits saying his absence in the first two weeks had effectively taken him out of the Heisman race. This is great news to the Tide faithful hoping to repeat as champions.

The Oregon Ducks continued their impressive offensive clinic on unfortunate opponents. I recommend some of you learn some duck calls, because Oregon definitely oozes of “THE REAL DEAL”.

Nebraska effectively tanked Jake Locker’s Heisman campaign (and possibly his NFL hype) in a dominating performance over the Huskies. As an orangeblood, I will freely admit that I’m quite concerned for October 15th when the Horns roll into Lincoln.

The Rankings

#1 Alabama Crimson Tide

Thought the Tide were pretty impressive the first two games of the year? How about you add in the fact that Mr. Heisman Mark Ingram is back, and looking even better than when we last saw him in that little game called the BCS Nat’l Championship.

#2 Ohio State Buckeyes

Buckeyes are still rollin’. A 43-7 thumping over in-state cupcake Ohio University.

#3 Oregon Ducks

No team’s offense has impressed me as much as the Ducks have thus far. The Pac-10 is definitely theirs for the taking.

#4 Texas Christian Horned Frogs

Sorry, orangebloods, the best team from the state of Texas is the Horned Frogs. TCU made Robert Griffin III look like a DII player this past weekend.

#5 Texas Longhorns

Good job beating Texas Tech. Now you just need to minimize mistakes. Good news for Texas is that their defense looks like the real deal.

#6 Nebraska Cornhuskers

Almost feels like it’s 1994 lately. That’s because the Cornhuskers are starting to resemble their prestigious old-era brethren.

#7 Boise State Broncos

Yeah, yeah, ESPN is constantly driving it down our throats how great Boise State is. Well, they might be a good team, but I just can’t bring myself to put them over the aforementioned teams when their marquee win is over a team that lost to an FCS team.

#8 Oklahoma Sooners

Tale of two Sooners. A week after humiliating then-ranked Florida State, OU finds itself back where it started week 1: struggling to beat an overmatched team. OU better get it together, because Red River is coming up.

#9 Arkansas Razorbacks

Ryan Mallett might be striking the pose in New York City if Petrino can get the other Hogs to play even half as well as Mallett has this season. Watch out, SEC!

#10 Florida Gators

If Florida’s center could learn how to snap the ball to Brantley, the Gators could probably look a little better. I bet the Gatornation is missing his Holiness Tim Tebow right about now.

Honorable Mention

Wisconsin Badgers, South Carolina Gamecocks, Utah Utes, Arizona Wildcats
