The Celtics look like new team as of late. Sending away Kendrick Perkins, Nate Robinson, Semih Erden, Marquise Daniels, and Luke Harangody in the past week they have opened the doors for newcomers Jeff Green, Nenad Krstic, Troy Murphy and now Sasha Pavlovic.
Pavlovic adds a decent range jumper who can also drive to the hoop. He will certainly add depth to the bench offensively. Where his real value comes is his perimeter defensive skills. He will most likely not see big minutes off the bench, but should his defense prove to as solid as advertised, should see more minutes down the stretch.
With a lot of negative hype surrounding the Perkins trade it is clear that the Celtics are approaching their playoff run a bit differently than in the past. Adding some young but capable players to the bench to add to Big Baby, and Delonte West will provide spark when members of the Big Four need to sit.
Though the interior defense may have suffered a bit it appears the new look Celtics will have one of the deepest quality rotations going into the playoffs, should the O’Neal’s get healthy.
