Tonight is the night. The night most basketball fans have been waiting for. The new big three will take on the Celtics’ big 3 in Boston. Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh for the Miami Heat. Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen for the Boston Celtics. These six players will get the most attention, but the game will likely come down to the supporting casts and how well they contribute.
The Heat have a collection of solid players, including Udonis Haslem, Zydrunas Ilgauskus, Eddie House, James Jones, Mario Chalmers, and Jamaal Magloire. Mike Miller, probably the most important aside from the big three, will be out until January. The Celtics bench is filled with a good group of players as well, as they have Shaquille O’neal, Jermaine O’neal, Rajon Rondo, Nate Robinson, Marquis Daniels, Glen Davis, and Delonte West. Kendrick Perkins, like Mike Miller, will be out until January. These two teams have some of the greatest depth in all of basketball, and that certainly makes for a fantastic opener for the NBA. These teams are very different. Boston will have trouble defending the wings and Miami will have trouble defending the glass. Grab your popcorn, I know I will be.
Prediction: Celtics 97, Heat 93
