Wouldn’t you know it, BCS #1 managed to stay unbeaten for the first time this season. Unfortunately for BCS #5 Michigan State, they were unable to replicate Auburn’s effort versus Mississippi.

This week in college football was relatively calm in comparison to what we have experienced the previous 8 weeks, but we still witnessed some nail biters and impressive offensive performances.

With that, let’s go through the top 10 countdown.

The Countdown

#10

Boise State managed to remain unbeaten. What a surprise, given the quality of opponent. They only have one serious threat left on their schedule, which will come November 26th @ Nevada.

#9

Florida State had looked like a completely different team after their humiliating defeat in Norman earlier in the season. The Noles’ luck seemed to have turned. Well, Russell Wilson and the NC State Wolfpack decided they wanted to bring the Noles back to earth.

#8

Roy Helu Jr. came out of the gates with a 66yd touchdown, then followed it up later in the 1st quarter with another 73yd touchdown. 169 additional yards later, Helu was thinkin’… Why couldn’t I have done this against Texas a few weeks earlier?

#7

Speaking of those pesky Longhorns, what in the heck has happened to the Texas we have all become accustomed to? 4-4 through 8 games; what is this, 1997? Well, 1997 was the last time the Baylor Bears walked into a game against the perennial power Texas Longhorns and left with a W.

#6

Michigan State’s BCS Championship game dreams turned into a nightmare early on yesterday in Iowa City. 3 interceptions by Spartan QB Cousins, and a 37-6 humiliation, effectively ends the Spartans’ Nat’l Championship hopes.

#5

The lord giveth, then two weeks later the lord taketh away. The Hurricanes made their way back into the top 25 two weeks ago, and now are already gone after a humiliating loss to ACC bottom feeder Virginia.

Jacory Harris’s promising junior campaign has turned into a Wes Craven horror movie. Now the Miami QB is reportedly injured, and questionable for next week.

#4

The Oklahoma Sooners had a nice rebound after their shocking defeat to Missouri last week. But what else did college football fans expect when the Colorado Buffaloes rolled into Gaylord Family Stadium in Norman?

#3

Stanford Cardinal continues to impress fans and pundits alike. This week they crushed Washington 41-0, with highly touted Cardinal QB Luck impressing, while Huskie QB Locker’s stock continues to drop like a bag of bricks.

#2

BCS #1 Auburn appeared to be in a shootout through 15 minutes, but the Tigers quickly ended the Rebel nation’s hopes with a 2nd quarter clinic. Auburn continues to impress college football fans across the country.

#1

Gene Chizik realizes that impressive statistics in multiple categories will result in Heisman voters swooning. Cam Newton threw for 209 yards with 2 touchdowns, no interceptions, and caught a 20yd pass for a touchdown. This college football fan thinks Newton will be striking a pose real soon.
