Austin American-Statesman writer Kirk Bohls says that current Texas running backs coach and former Longhorn legend Major Applewhite is the front-runner for the vacant offensive coordinator position.

“Major Applewhite has emerged as the clear front-runner to replace Davis as offensive coordinator, the Statesman has learned. He could win the job outright or share it with a co-coordinator like Wisconsin offensive line coach Bob Bostad, Boise State offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin, Tulsa offensive coordinator Chad Morris or former Minnesota head coach Tim Brewster.”

Bohls’ credibility isn’t worth a whole lot to most orangebloods fans, but Mack promoting within wouldn’t surprise me.

Still, other outlets are reporting that Boise State offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin is still the #1 candidate for the vacant OC position.
