Leaked sources have stated that the NCAA has denied USC’s appeal, which will ultimately mean the Trojans will have to vacate their 2004 BCS National Championship.
The Bowl Championship Series will not officially announce this until the NCAA officially releases its report and the Presidential Oversight committee has time to review it; however, USC’s fate has essentially been sealed since the school acknowledged using an ineligible player, Reggie Bush, in the 2004 season.
Southern California’s 2004 undefeated season culminated in a 55-19 drubbing over #2 Oklahoma in the FedEx Orange Bowl.
Sources have indicated that the 2004 BCS National Title will remain vacant. (Sorry, Oklahoma fans.)
The Associated Press has reported it will not strip USC of its 2004 AP title, though it will be difficult for any college football historian to give credence to USC for the title, as officially USC went 0-0 in 2004.
