There was plenty of excitement in the NFL world this past weekend. It looked as if the Buffalo Bills were going to get their first victory of the season, but blew it. The Lions were about to shock the world by defeating the New York Jets, but blew it. The New England Patriots were steamrolled by the Cleveland Browns. The Indianapolis Colts were beaten by the Philadelphia Eagles in a close contest. The Minnesota Vikings needed overtime to defeat the Arizona Cardinals as Brett Favre wants to play in one last postseason. The San Diego Chargers are warming up, as they’ve won two in a row by defeating the suddenly cold Houston Texans. The Green Bay Packers ended both the Cowboys’ and Wade Phillips’ seasons. The New York Giants have won their fifth game in a row by smashing the Seattle Seahawks.
The Rankings
1. New York Giants (6-2): They’re the hottest team in the NFL by winning five straight. They face an easy Cowboys team this weekend.
2. New York Jets (6-2): They appeared to be down and out when trailing the Lions 20-10, but ended up winning in overtime. They travel to Cleveland this week and hope to do something the Patriots couldn’t do.
3. New England Patriots (6-2): They didn’t look good in Cleveland, but perhaps it’s because they were looking ahead to their matchup against the #4 team.
4. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2): Nice win over the Bengals last night, as they basically ended Cincinnati’s season.
5. Green Bay Packers (6-3): They completely dominated the Cowboys this past weekend and head into their bye week.
6. Atlanta Falcons (6-2): They don’t receive many style points, but they win. Tough test this Thursday as they face the #7 team.
7. Baltimore Ravens (6-2): The Ravens ended the Dolphins’ road dominance and now get to face a tough Falcons team on Thursday.
8. New Orleans Saints (6-3): The defending champs look to be back after crushing the Panthers. The timing of their bye week may be horrible.
9. Tennessee Titans (5-3): They were on a bye week and claimed Randy Moss. They go on the road to face a Dolphins team that can’t seem to win at home.
10. Philadelphia Eagles (5-3): Big win over Peyton Manning and the Colts. Michael Vick continues to impress. They’ll have an easy matchup with the Redskins on Monday night.
