The Chicago Bulls may not have landed LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, or Chris Bosh this summer like they wanted, but avoided embarrassment by signing 2 time all star forward Carlos Boozer.  Boozer may not be the big name everyone wished for, but may be the big body the Bulls need to go along Derrick Rose, Luol Deng and Joakim Noah.

The problem is we still don’t know exactly how Boozer will fit in.  Boozer has been sidelined since October 3 with a fractured wrist after ‘tripping’ over his luggage on a off day.  *I would love to hear the real story behind this injury because it sounds eerily similar to the time my college roommate came home hammered and tripped over my dirty laundry and split open his chin on a desk. *However it happened, Boozer is healthy again and will make his season debut in the next couple of weeks.

Since his injury, the Bulls were expected to struggle without Boozer and many experts predicted them to be around .500 around his return.  But what they didn’t anticipate was Rose to be playing out of his mind at a MVP level, Noah to take another huge leap playing like a beast down low, and the rest of the new Bulls clicking at such an early stage of the season.

The Bulls are currently 9-6 after going over .500 on their annual circus road trip for the first time since Michael Jordan left, awaiting Boozer’s arrival.  What will Boozer bring to the table when he returns?  He is a solid low post, back to the basket scorer that the Bulls have needed ever since they idiotically traded away Elton Brand 10 years ago.

Boozer also is a proven pick and roll player playing in Utah with Deron Williams.  He has a great mid range jump shot and great ability to dive and finish at the basket.  Boozer can also provide rebounding and a strong presence at the defensive end.

His return also gives the Bulls the ability to move Taj Gibson to the bench.  Their bench has lacked size and Gibson will be able to give Noah a rest and a similar presence on the floor.

Tom Thibedeau, the Bulls and the Chicago fans should look forward to Boozer and a strong possibility to win the East.
