Tom Brady and Michael Vick have been rewarded for their outstanding seasons by leading all players in voting for the 2011 Pro Bowl.
They are also the top candidates for this season’s NFL MVP Award.
Brady set an NFL record last week by throwing his 318th consecutive pass without an interception, breaking the record held by former Browns QB Bernie Kosar. Brady’s last interception came against the Ravens on October 17th.
He has thrown for 3,701 yards, 34 touchdowns, and just four interceptions while leading the Patriots to the AFC East title and a 13-2 record.
Vick has been the year’s surprise story, leading the Eagles to a 10-4 record while passing for 2,755 yards, 20 touchdowns, and just five picks. He has also rushed for 613 yards and eight touchdowns on an outstanding 6.7 YPC.
Now the question remains: Which one of these two will win the MVP Award this season?
I’m going with Tom Brady - he might be having an even better season than his legendary 2007 campaign and, while Michael Vick has played out of his mind and would be deserving in any other year, Brady’s performance this season in the face of roster turnover and injuries is deserving of a second career MVP.
Don’t worry though, Mr. Vick. You’ve made an awful lot of money for yourself this season.
Maybe Brady and Vick will clash in the Super Bowl…
