With three quarters of the NFL season in the books, the stretch run of the MVP race is on. Tom Brady continued his stellar season with a four-touchdown performance last night against the Jets. Matt Ryan rallied his troops in the fourth quarter against Tampa Bay. Michael Vick turned in another outstanding performance in a win over the Houston Texans. Drew Brees put together a great game in a win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Jamaal Charles enters the MVP race as the Chiefs take a commanding lead in the AFC West.
1. Tom Brady
10-2 record, 3,029 passing yards, 66.8%, 27 TD, 4 INT, 18 sacks, 1 fumble lost, 1 rushing TD, 109.5 rating. Last night, he passed for four touchdowns to different receivers in a huge blowout win over the Jets. He’ll face another tough defense in Chicago this weekend.
2. Matt Ryan
10-2 record, 2,920 passing yards, 63.5%, 21 TD, 7 INT, 17 sacks, 3 fumbles lost, 91.8 rating. He didn’t have his best performance in Tampa, but it was a nice comeback win for him. He’ll be on the road at Carolina this week.
3. Michael Vick
6-2 record, 2,243 passing yards, 63.8%, 15 TD, 2 INT, 23 sacks, 1 fumble lost, 105.7 rating, 467 yards rushing, 6 TD. Again, he’s extremely lucky to lose only one of his nine fumbles this year. He’ll face the Cowboys this week.
4. Drew Brees
9-3 record, 3,634 yards passing, 69.5%, 25 TD, 16 INT, 17 sacks, 1 fumble lost, 94.6 rating. Brees had a good week against the Bengals and will face the Rams this weekend.
5. Jamaal Charles
8-4 record, 1,137 yards rushing, 6.2 yards per carry, 3 touchdowns, 34 receptions, 379 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 fumbles lost. He ran well against the Broncos’ defense this past week and will be tested this upcoming week against the Chargers’ run defense.
