UFC 121 has come and gone, so what is in store for the winners and losers of the main card?  I’ll give what I believe Dana White will have happen, and what I would like to see happen.

Cain Velasquez- Dominating performance, with a TKO win over Brock Lesnar.  Got up from a takedown, got a takedown and all around looked great striking.

Dana White- Announces a title fight with top contender Junior dos Santos.

Zach Lambert- Same as DW,  since they already had this scheduled for JDS to take on the winner.  Cain opened today as a -185 favorite.

Brock Lesnar- Once again, his stand-up looked like it needed a ton of work.  That said, losing violently to Cain Velasquez isn’t the end of the world for the former champ.

Dana White- Dana needs this guy back in the title hunt ASAP due to the money he generates, and I think he announces a rematch with Shane Carwin for the #1 contender spot sometime in the spring.

Zach Lambert- I would love to see a rematch with Carwin for the chance to take on the winner of Cain/JDS.  Carwin was supposed to fight Roy Nelson at UFC 125 in January, but pulled out due to a back injury.  I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but this could just be a bunch of malarkey to set up Lesnar vs. Carwin II as the co-main event to JDS vs. Cain.  Carwin vs. Nelson didn’t make much sense in my opinion anyway.

Jake Shields- Won a split decision win over Martin Kampmann, but was badly gassed.  Apparently he cut around 20 pounds in 1 day to make 170.  Regardless of this possibly being the reason of his cardio issues, its his fault.

Dana White-  He brought Shields in for a title shot, and that’s what I expect.  Winner of GSP vs. Koscheck at UFC 124 gets Shields around April.

Zach Lambert- I wasn’t impressed at all by Shields beating a borderline top-10 guy in Kampmann.  All Jon Fitch does is win, with exception to his bad loss to GSP, so why not make Shields fight Fitch for the title opportunity.  Only problems with this is if Koscheck wins, he and Fitch don’t want to fight, and the winner of Koscheck/GSP will have a long layoff.

Martin Kampmann- Put up a valiant effort against Dana’s big free agent acquisition, Jake Shields.

Dana White- Rewards him with another top-10 guy and has Martin Kampmann vs. Dan Hardy headline a UFC card overseas next year.

Zach Lambert- I think he deserves one better, and I would like to see him take on Carlos Condit, with the winner moving towards the upper-crust of the welterweight division.

Diego Sanchez- Won a come from behind fight over Paulo Thiago. Was dominant on the ground over the black belt.

Dana White- The timing works out pretty good for having Diego take on the winner of George Sotiropoulos vs. Joe Lauzon at UFC 123.  Barring injuries they could be a co-main or even main event of an overseas card, maybe Australia is Sotiropoulos wins.

Zach Lambert- I would like to see him take on Kenny Florian in his return to lightweight.  He beat Florian on The Ultimate Fighter, but that was in 2005, and at middleweight! Problem with this scenario is that Florian is allegedly going to be taking on Evan Dunham, although it isn’t official yet.

Paulo Thiago- Dominated on the ground again in rounds 2 and 3 against Sanchez.

Dana White-  Has Thiago take on the up and comer Claude Patrick, possibly in Canada.

Zach Lambert-  Thiago hasn’t looked very good in two straight fights, although they are both guys around the top 10.  I would love to see a Paulo Thiago  vs. Matt Serra fight next year.

Matt Hamill- Won decisively over legend Tito Ortiz, in a unanimous decision.

Dana White- Already stated, “A top-ten opponent for Hamill next”.  I predict White will give Hamill a go at Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

Zach Lambert- While the Nogueira fight would be interesting, I would like to see him take on Rampage if he loses to Machida.

Tito Ortiz- Lost a lopsided fight to Hamill, who he had earlier disrespected with some ludicrous statements about deaf people.

Dana White- Tito is still a big name, and even though he is losing, its not via jaw dropping knockouts.  I think Dana will give him a shot at newer guy in the UFC, maybe Alexander Gustafsson who just won easily over Cyrille Diabate.

Zach Lambert- I don’t want to see Tito fight anymore, unless he has a trilogy with Chuck Liddel, regardless of him being down 0-2.

Brendan Schaub- Used superior boxing and speed to slowly pick apart Gabriel Gonzaga.

Dana White- Schaub requested a fight with Frank Mir next, and I think Dana will make it happen.

Zach Lambert- I agree with this fight, I’d like to see if Schaub can hang with the upper echelon of the heavyweights.

Gabriel Gonzaga- Looked slow, lumbering against Schaub.  Had some nice leg kicks, but that was about it.

Dana White-  Lets Cro Cop get his revenge in a matchup of two past there prime strikers.

Zach Lambert- I don’t get Gonzaga. His striking isn’t very good, yet he barely tries to get it to the ground.  Maybe give him another guy that wants the fight on the mat to see if he uses his BJJ, or is he just washed up?  UFC  121 undercard winner Jon Madsen makes sense to me.
