As you fans are aware, the MLB season is a long one. The good news is that there are fewer than 100 games remaining in the regular season. The Boston Red Sox are still on fire and have captured the AL East lead after sweeping the New York Yankees for the second consecutive series. The Cleveland Indians are still leading the AL Central, which is still a surprise. Texas still leads its division despite its awful pitching. Over in the National League, the Phillies lead the East, the red-hot Brewers lead the Central, and the reigning champion Giants control the West. Let’s move on to the top 10 power rankings.

Top 10 Power Rankings

1. Boston Red Sox: They have won 9 in a row and 37 of their last 53 games.

2. Philadelphia Phillies: They own MLB’s best record by .5 games, and now Utley is back.

3. New York Yankees: They were swept by Boston yet again, but still own the second-best record in the American League.

4. Atlanta Braves: They have won 6 in a row and 8 of their last 10 games. Jurrjens and Hanson are a dominant pairing.

5. Milwaukee Brewers: Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun are putting up great stats, but don’t forget about their dominant pitching of late. This team is a force.

6. San Francisco Giants: The pitching is fantastic, but they will need some offense to contend. The loss of Buster Posey will be a huge factor.

7. St Louis Cardinals: Albert Pujols has found his rhythm and Lance Berkman has found his youth.

8. Tampa Bay Rays: They have cooled off lately and get to face the surging Red Sox this week.

9. Texas Rangers: Despite the worst pitching in the majors, they lead their mediocre division. Someone has to win it, right?

10. Cleveland Indians: They are coming back down to Earth after losing 9 of their last 10 games. Detroit is knocking on their door.

On the bubble: Arizona Diamondbacks, Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners, New York Mets
