After seeing the Yankees sweep the Twins and the Phillies sweep the Reds, it seems they’re destined to meet in the World Series for the second consecutive season. The Phillies are now in their third straight National League Championship Series and will take on the San Francisco Giants, who took the Atlanta Braves out in four games. In the American League, the Yankees will travel to Texas for an interesting match-up. The two teams split the season series 4-4, so it’s tough to predict who will win this best-of-seven series. The Yankees won’t see Cliff Lee three times, so I bet they’re pleased to know that. The Rangers played well at home during the regular season, but dropped both home games against the Rays in the Division Series. Over in the National League, the Phillies split the season series with the Giants 3-3. Game one will feature Roy Halladay and Tim Lincecum, who both pitched complete-game shutouts in the opening round, with Roy throwing a no-hitter.
Predictions
Yankees over Rangers in six: The Yankees have a great offense and clutch players. They have CC Sabathia, who can pitch three times in this series if need be. They have seasoned veterans who have been here before. They are also the defending champions.
Phillies over Giants in five: The Phillies have one of the better offenses and pitching staffs in all of baseball. The Giants have great pitching, but not enough hitting to keep up.
