The Michigan Wolverines football program must get its swag back. For the last three years since Rich Rod became head coach, the winningest football team in college history lost more games than it did in its previous seven.

Under new defensive coordinator Greg Robinson the Wolverines allowed the most points in its history and suffered its worst bowl lost ever.

Former Heisman winner defensive back Charles Woodson is quoted as saying “The secondary was always out of position and lacked the fundamentals to even tackle”. After double teaming D-tackle Mike Martin, Wolverine opponents had their way with the other ten defender wannabes.

The Michigan Wolverines fielded one of the best defenses in college football history in 1997 that led to a national championship anchored by Mr. Woodson and several NFL draftees. That has to be the blueprint for this program to get it’s swag back.

With the addition of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Big Ten will have two divisions and a championship game. A good offense will get you Heisman votes. But everybody knows that DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS.
